The Local Chicken Project - Tanzania Fund Annual Report 2008/2009

The Chicken programme has become well established with 143 groups operating in 31 villages. The key activities taking place this year are:

• 3rd round of vaccinations - making sure all chickens are vaccinated.
• Training on Marketing Technologies
• Training on Financial Management
• Supervision of savings and credit facilities

The budget for 2009/2010 is £130,701 with the Tanzania Fund contributing £64,701 and the rest being contributed by Oxfam Unwrapped.

The project is a collaberation between The Tanzanian Government, Oxfam and our local partner Tanzania Society of Agriculture Extension and Education (TSAEE). The government of Tanzania pays local staff's salaries, provided personal and office space whilst TSAEE has co-ordinated all activitites relating to the project in the Bariadi and Maswa districts.
